Justin H***** organised my savings back in 2011. Communications and updates from Justin have been terrible since He was in the Zurich office which has now gone into liquidation, which i found out by chance.

Beware he is now probably selling his crooked products with high commissions n Mauritius. Don't be fooled by the charm. He gets a very high commission in the 1st hit then does nothing. My savings are not doing well. To leave now means I lose more money than I have put in.

. I have been trying to get in touch with him for over 1 year, for which he never returned calls

Chase Belgrave Reply:
Dear Mr Swan

We haven't charged commissions or been based in Switzerland for many years and would love for you to contact us so we can find you in our records. We are absolutely transparent according to fees and can't find anyone who matches your description anywhere. Please be in touch with us as soon as you can so we can put all this right!

Chase Belgrave - Poor Communication and Extremely Bad Advice

After having being approached by this so called company .. yes cold called, after an innocent website enquiry a few months ago !

It´s come to our knowledge they are a bunch of unscrupulous...!!! Furthermore myself and my wife have been bombarded by calls from so called experts at all times of the day recently in Australia! Beware of anybody who deals with them especially expats who enter websites about pension transfers or plans with no company name....!!! They have a habit of disappearing with no trace or contact details !!

Furthermore their owner claims to be a ´guru´ on pension advice..? Beware of references to national newspapers to so called experts.!

The paperwork has been endless and communication has been absolutely non existent! Without doubt we highly recommend you to NOT deal with them or their so called services.

Chase Belgrave Reply:
Hello, and thank you for your review. As you say, you were called by ourselves because you completed a form on our website with your phone number, asking for us to do so. We have never cold called anybody, we don't agree with it and it is simply not a part of our business model. We apologise for the "endless paperwork". We also wish everything could be simpler but as a regulated entity we need to comply with all the various legislation regarding Anti Money Laundering and Risk profiling among other things. This does unfortunately result in quite a lot of paperwork. You also say you've received many phone calls from us but that communication has been non-existent. We're not entirely certain how to reconcile that but we certainly invite you to be in touch with us so that we can help with anything you might need.

Poor Professional Advice

Over a period of six years, investments made with CB lost 25% - 100K. Communication from them was negligible; any information provided was at my instigation.

I was not advised that the two funds in which my money was invested were suspended (they still are) one for over a year and one since 2013. When I queried whether funds should be transferred, as money was stagnating, I was lied to and advised that I should 'hang on' and wait for markets to improve. It was not made clear that, due to their poor investment choices, my money was frozen and I was unable to access it. These funds were for my retirement.

CB still suggest that my funds are invested wisely but as a low risk investor, a fact of which they were aware, the only way they could recuperate, when the suspension is lifted, is by investing in high risk funds, subjecting me to the chances of losing even more.

Inappropriate professional advice and complete lack of communication and fund management. Strongly advise against using CB.

Chase Belgrave Reply:
Thank you for taking the time to review us! We've taken a look at your file and yes one of the funds you invested in was suspended for a year - however it was done so because it moved jurisdiction. During that year it didn't stop trading, didn't lose any money and once the move to the new jurisdiction had completed the fund was unsuspended and available once again. In fact such a move is not uncommon with mutual funds as they seek to protect client assets when rules change, and certainly isn't reflective of risk, one way or the other.

Resolved: CHASE BELGRAVE - CHECK THE SMALL PRINT

ALL I can say if you are Buying an Investment through Chase Belgrave, Devere or any of the Overseas Expat Financial Advisers then you seriously do need to check the small print. Justin Harris and Michael Moore both worked for Devere and set up Chase Belgrave.

There MAIN focus is on Long term Investment plans. Which are fine until you want to exit them. The Penalties are huge even if the plan has been going years.

GET the full Terms and Conditions if you wanted to come out of it early.

Get it in writing for the company selling you it and from the company that underwrites it. MY advice is go Short term!

Chase Belgrave Reply:
Hello and thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It's absolutely true our main focus is on investment that is longer term, and we hope this is the case for our clients too. It's important that investments should be made for a usual minimum of 5 years and preferably longer. Short term needs should be covered by cash or money market funds with the significantly poorer performance that comes with them. Please always do make sure you understand the Key Features document and that you keep it on file for future reference. There is no one by the name of Michael working for Chase Belgrave, although there was once 6 years ago, for a very short period of time . If you require anything further please don't hesitate to be in touch.

Jason ##### was my route into a QROPS pension. He signed me up, allocated me to a bunch of companies and, when I pointed out that his recommended investments were losing money, decided he didn't like what I was saying and dropped me as his client.

Strange? Yes, until you realize that he had bagged a commission of GBP 36,000 from those companies and now had no more work to do for it.

He is probably bright as he realized he could get away with this.

What does he know about finance and customer care. Zilch!

Chase Belgrave Reply:
Dear "Johnny naive"

We're unsurprisingly unable to locate any client by your name nor are we able to locate your stated policy number of "0000000001" so we'd just as soon assume you're a bot or competitor. Unfortunately this does happen quite frequently.

If you're a client and do want resolution then we absolutely encourage you to get in touch with us using your real name which is private on this platform, as well as your real policy number which is also private.

However we do know that no one by the name of Jason has worked for us. Nor have we ever, in our reasonably long history, dropped anyone as a client. That simply would never happen. Our clients are our partners. We enjoy a really close relationship with all of them and some of them we've looked after through significant events over the course of their lives. We take this seriously. We enjoy our work. We would never, ever do these things.

Chase Belgrave/Justin H***** completely unresponsive to my account inquiries

Similar to the experience of the person who posted originally in July 2018, I have a QROPS account with Chase Belgrave, managed by Justin H***** out of the Zurich office, who now appears to be in Mauritius. As of February 2017, I had GBP 105,000 remaining in an account invested in an STM Malta fund.

I have written to Justin H***** and his colleague Matthew Beddington on multiple occasions since Feb 2017 to withdraw the 25%/year that I am allowed to withdraw, and I have gotten no response from either Justin or Matthew, or anyone at Chase Belgrave, and STM Malta is not responding regarding my balance either. If anyone has information on how to get updated information on my account and withdraw funds I would appreciate it.

Resolved: Crooked Advisor

I would just like to advise everyone not to use Justin H***** at Chase Belgrave. He advised us on a QROPS transfer and it was meant to be invested at a low risk portfolio.

He invested a considerable amount in about 4 obscure products which were not low risk at all. Two structured products and two funds. He made out that there was no commission, what he didn't advise on was the commission he received from the funds themselves and the cost of exiting these funds.

He also used RL360 who also have high charges built in.

His communication was terrible , many people have jumped ship. I could use stronger language to describe him.

I am sure many others out there have been burnt by his advice.

Chase Belgrave are denying I was a client despite paperwork submitted to each of the jurisdictions they operate in on an unregulated business. I am contacting multiple jurisdiction and they are currently under investigation so the evidence is totally transparent. Chase Belgrave can flood this site with fake reviews but I will continue to ensure that nobody else gets scammed by them,

Updated by user Oct 16, 2018

Please provide a contact details and I will be happy to send all the details. Perhaps you want the fraudulent paperwork submitted by Justin H***** or perhaps the continual investigation into the link you had with Polycom which finished in January 2014 or the fact you set up Tourbillion but never used it and operated on an unregulated basis.

I have personally started investigations through Zurich, Isle of Man, Mauritius, London and made STM Malta aware you were operating on an unregulated basis. Please tell me what else you need to prove the case. Here is a classic Justin H***** e mail James, Helen Thank you for the difficult call earlier today. My recommendation for the remaining cash in your account is as follows: https://www.fundsmith.co.uk/fund-factsheet please explore the website.

Your current value is £138099. 7% more than this is £147770. If, under my advice, your portfolio doesn't increase by that 7% between now and the end of the year (around 6 months), I will resign as your IFA and pay you £15000.

That is my confidence. Justin H***** Director Chase Belgrave Dreikonigstrasse 31a Zurich 8002 Switzerland +41 4******** www.chasebelgrave.com

Updated by user Sep 01, 2018

Update. I have traced Chase Belgrave via Gibralta, Switzerland, UK, Mauritius, Isle of Man, Malta and the search continues.

In January 2017 Chase Belgrave lost their regulation in Switzerland through Polyreg. This matter is being investigated through FINMA in Switzerland. Gibralta held regulation through a company called Tourbillion but that was a front and Gibralta have confirmed no connection. Chase Belgrave was liquidated with no assets and now operate in Mauritius under Chase Belgrave Limited and I will continue to do everything to bring them to justice and get my money back.

Justin H***** has confirmed he never provides advice and therefore does not need regulation to the Gibralta Financial Services Commission so clearly he is a crook. I will update this as I get further but I intend to get every penny back and stop them from doing this to somebody else.

Original review Jul 31, 2018

4 years ago we transferred 270,000 GBP into a QROPS scheme managed by Justin H*****. After quoting his writing for the Guardian and quotes from The Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments we proceeded. Our risk profile was cautious with an emphasis on protecting capital over return.

Based upon this we felt confident in our dealings. Fast forward 3 years and the fund is now worth 160,000 GPB and Justin H***** asks us to give him 6 months to put it right or he would resign and pay us 15,000 GBP.

Come 6 months and the fund has gone down more and Justin H***** refuses to resign as our IFA without a non disclosure form being signed.

By the time we get him out the picture in February 2018 it has lost even more and continues to do so as funds are front loaded with fees. After lodging complaints with every Financial Institution I could find it appears Justin H***** and Chase Belgrave are not regulated by anybody.

Further, the quote from Simon Culhane of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments appears to be a lie. The Guardian washed their hands of him and now it appears that he has moved to Mauritius.

I can only assume this is a common practice for him and Chase Belgrave. I will be following this trail until I get my money back and can only take this opportunity to avoid Justin H***** and Chase Belgrave like the plague.

Chase Belgrave Reply:
Dear Sir, thank you for your review. We would like to help immediately but we need more details in order to locate your account, the figures you quote don't seem to tally with anything we have on file at this stage. It is true that in order to provide greater regulatory scope we relocated from Switzerland to Mauitius over a year ago, Chase Belgrave have never been regulated anywhere else. Moreover, in 13 years of operation we've never had a complaint upheld against us. However, we will do our best to help, please do get in touch as soon as possible to rectify this situation.

Stay away from them, they are quick to grab your investment but overall experience is bad, probably one of the worst customer services my wife and i have experienced. They take ages to respond to your queries, and at times not always accurate, and their attitude sucks.

I am surprise they can last this long !! Beware potential investors, you are helping to fund these cowboys who has a posh offices in Zurich. Clearly the fees will help to fund their lifestyle.

With regards to fees do CHECK and request the terms and conditions of ALL the fees as they are not all crystal clear and make sure you check and is 100% clear on everything as they are quick to assume because you sign on the dotted line, you must understand. But if you can, avoid them at all costs

Chase Belgrave Reply:
We absolutely agree - clients should certainly check all fees and terms and make sure they're in a fully informed position. That said, we are a fully regulated and audited advisory firm with thousands of happy clients around the world. If you have any specific issue with a product or service please do be in touch and we will endeavour to rectify this immediately.

Chase Belgrave have been liquidated. They now operate out of Mauritius under Chase Belgrave Limit d.

Since January 2013 they have been operating on a unregulated basis after Polyreg stopped regulating them.

Tourbillion in Gibralta were going to regulate them but that never happened. They are crooks and I am chasing them through 5 different countries to track them down.

Working as a teacher abroad can be a daunting prospect. Suddenly, aspects of your future that seemed so certain are thrown up into the air and into the unknown. What happens if you spend an entire career abroad? What about retirement? How do you even go about making sure you have a safety net? These are all questions you have to answer, you can't ignore them forever (I've tried). That's why it's so refreshing to have a company like Chase and a point of contact like David Plumpton walk you through the process. Professional, courteous and more than a little understanding of the difficulties communicating over multiple time zones. I really couldn't have asked for more."

I have no doubt that David Plumpton was headbutting his desk after every phoncall with me. I am not the easiest or most patient person on the phone. Fortunately for me David has patience, perserverance and expertise in bucketloads. Over countless emails and calls he talked me through every stage of the process of transferring my pension. Nervous customer!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I started to look at the opportunities constantly being offered online about transfering UK pensions from the UK to a QROPS scheme - we now live in France. I contacted Chase for their advice. As a cautious person I was extremely nervous about using a non-uk based advisory service; this together with a lot of recent bad publicity about poor pensions advice being given generally by other sources, high fees etc. I made no bones about it to my CB advisor - Terry Pryor and his assistant Chris. Together they allayed my fears, (they put me in contact with a previous client who almost exactly matched my own profile. This bonefide client was kind enough to share his experiences with me). They responded swiftly to my many other challenging questions with a high level of knowledge and experience. At no time did I feel that I was being pushed down an avenue that suited them more than me. All communications were timely and efficient. At each stage Terry patiently talked me through what was happening (depth of knowledge and experience was very apparent). I of course checked the information through other sources as you do. At no stage did any of these other sources suggest that the advice and guidance being given was poor or inappropriate. At all stages I had my guard up, afterall this pot of money is important to me. I have now successfully transfered all of my pensions under one roof within the UK, I have full visibility of the funds into which the funds have been assigned - daily performance if necessary. Again Terry's prudent advice about my risk profile was very valuable, at all times I had 100% visibility about what was happening and with who. I also had visibility of the fees being charged by all parties, which appeared to be in-line with the industry. We have regular reviews scheduled to confirm the suitability of the deployment of funds. Again here I feel that I have control about what happens, Terry will of course give his professionally measured opinion. Chase appear at this stage for me to be providing good solid financial advice. Really impressed with the professional service I have received.

Now I've got my pension sorted I can munch my croissants in peace. This has actually been three years in the making, I finalised my 8 (eight!) pension transfers and amalgamations through Chase Belgrave in 2015 and really haven't looked back since.... although the amazing team does keep encouraging me to, with their regular phone meetings to go over the performance (good!) and the general progression of the plan towards my retirement (tomorrow please!). In all seriousness my pension plan had been weighing on my mind almost throughout my life and I kept putting it on the back burner but having gotten it out the way is such a relief. It just enables me to focus on the present, knowing the future is taken care of. For this, thank you Chase Belgrave!

Having moved to Spain to start our early retirement, My wife and I soon found our selves running into a few financial difficulties as it would seem to have many other Expats who have opted out for the sunshine and sangria Our issues started with planning permission issues on our property, having completed the building works on our retirement home (where we were advised by jose) we were told that these did not comply with the local regulations The short story is we needed an additional 50k to put this right which we simply did not have, at the age of 56 we had already exhausted most of our savings, It was at this point we were put in touch with Chris McDougall from Chase Belgrave who informed us that we could acees our UK Pensions from the age of 55, which was all news to me, anyway Chris explianed all the ins and outs of our options and was able to put our funds into an International SIPP where we could draw down right in away in Euros The service was first class from start to finish, My Wife and I dont really have a financial background however Chris was able to explain everything to us in a way we could understand from start to finish, I would highly recommend the service for anyone who wants to Review their Pensions Chris was a great help and is welcome to join us for Sunshine and Margaritas any time

Good day everyone I have had the privilege to of being guided through my private pension by Ben Crabb whom I find to be very easy to deal with he has taken me through the initial enrolment process of setting up my SIPP. I found Ben to be very helpful in every-way nothing was to much trouble for him and if he said he was going to do something for you it was done to perfection and if he made an appointment to talk with me by telephone he was always on time and very polite and cool and I think we have become quite good friends. I am looking forward to spending many more years with Chase Belgrave and also with Ben because he has made my life much easier by guiding me through the paperwork which is quite difficult to understand because there is a lot of red tape attached to the enrolment process because of all the different government regulations in the UK : So to end I would like to thank Chase Belgrave and above all Mr Ben Crabb and his wonderful co-workers and staff .

Chase Belgrave have managed the transfer of my UK company pension fund to an offshore scheme. It was a complex task but they did the work and I am very grateful for their help and advice. Since the transfer Terry Pryor (my Chase Belgrave advisor) schedules regular conference calls to keep me up to date with the funds progress. He sorted out the drawdown payment and is always prepared to explain any aspect of the investments. I am now in the process of transferring another company pension into a SIPP and I am very confident that with Terry’s assistance it will be a secure and successful process. I absolutely trust Chase Belgrave based on my own personal experience and you can rest easy that within the normal constraints of fluctuating markets your funds are absolutely safe.
